I will never know! What I can say is what I've always said and I stand by this statement; that the 5-6 years working with my father, supporting both my mum and dad through their divorce, not really understanding what my father was actually like, being pulled from pillar to post, being mentally & physically abused were the best and worst years of my life! - Try and work that one out ðĪŠ
It taught me what my father was really like, allowed me to learn people skills, build my confidence on the phone and face to face with customers and suppliers, learn how to run a business; I learnt everything from accounts, marketing, communication, systems and processes and much much more!
I had a career mapped out for me. Had I found my path? Was this the route for me?
No, to say the least! ðĪ
The one man in my life (my father) who I could look up to and aspire to be, quickly taught me valuable life lessons without even knowing it, by not being a very nice person at all. It taught me that (and I love this quote)...
"It ain't about how hard you hit; It's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. It's how much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done" - Rocky Balboa
When things get tough in my life, and boy have they been tough at times, I remember this line and I feel it helps grounds me.
From here, I met a lovely woman, a physiotherapist and I discovered soft tissue therapy thanks Faye! This re-lit the passion to want to help people and give everything I could to better their lives. We got married, built a great clinic together (Faye Pattison Physiotherapy Ltd) but unfortunately our relationship suffered, we put all our energy into treating patients, my development and the business. Along this journey, it highlighted some skeletons in my closet I hadn't dealt with and I seeked help from a local therapist I cannot recommend enough, Thank you Jo! -

So now, I'm on my own! The birth of 'The Dry Needling Therapist'
ð
Over my career starting out as a soft tissue therapist, I have continued to develop and study and I'm not done yet! I qualified in Feb 2017 as a Soft Tissue Therapist, with the ISRM (the leading body). This gave me the understanding of the musculoskeltal system, human movement and how to help fix aches and pains with my hands and improve posture, reduce stress & give an overall improvement to peoples lives no matter what their issue, ache or ailment. The last 2 years have been spent gaining my skills in acupuncture, Taping and a very advanced skill called Dry Needling - I am currently discussing with the clinical director to go on and become a teacher in dry needling! While writing this it's putting everything into perspective of what is really achievable if you put your mind to it; Its the same with the human body!
I am currently studying another diploma in the foot to be able to prescribe orthotics which is a huge passion for me, as so many ailments in the human body start with poor foot mechanics. Who Knew hey!
I treat all people from all walks of life and have seen everything from a minor muscle injury to a complete rupture, pre and post surgical procedures, daily stress related aches and pains and much more. I have a keen interest in sports having played sport throughout my whole childhood into early 20's playing rugby for Bishops Stortford, Cricket for Takeley, Swimming for Great Dunmow, I enjoy racket sports especially Tennis and table tennis. I even raced for Harlow Ski Team back in the day before the dry slope closed down. Skiing is still a passion of mine and cannot wait to get back on the slopes in 2020! I also enjoy listening to a wide variety of music, I play the guitar, drums and love to sing!
With my life experiences as explained above, I feel I can really give more than just my hands and needles, I really listen to my patients and look at the bigger picture rather than just focusing on the specific injury site, pain or the problem. I pride myself on giving 100% attention to my patients and really getting to know them and understand them. We all have our own issues in life, its not an easy ride by any stretch of the imagination and if you are struggling with any aches, any stresses; then come have a chat! I'll see how I can help you and have the therapists around me too to help you if I feel I'm not the right therapist for you.
I'm a kind and caring gentleman with the want to help others not matter what their story and I look forward to welcoming you into my clinic.
